Why STD Testing Matters

Many sexually transmitted infections have no symptoms at all — meaning you can have an STI and feel completely fine while it silently affects your reproductive health, fertility, and overall wellbeing. Routine STD screening is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your partners. The CDC recommends annual STD screening for all sexually active women under 25, and for women 25 and older who have new or multiple partners. At Glendale OBGYN, we make testing easy, fast, and completely private.

Often Same-Day Testing & Results

We know that waiting for results is stressful. That is why Glendale OBGYN offers same-day testing and results whenever possible — so you can get answers quickly and begin treatment without unnecessary delay. Call our office or book online to schedule your confidential STD screening appointment today.

What We Test For

At Glendale OBGYN we screen for a comprehensive panel of sexually transmitted infections including:

Chlamydia — one of the most common STIs, often with no symptoms, that can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility if left untreated.

Gonorrhea — a bacterial infection that frequently occurs alongside chlamydia and can cause serious reproductive complications without treatment.

Syphilis — a bacterial infection that progresses through stages and can cause severe health complications if not caught and treated early.

HIV — we offer routine HIV screening as part of our STD panel, with compassionate counseling and referral to specialist care when needed.

Herpes (HSV-1 & HSV-2) — we provide testing and diagnosis for both oral and genital herpes, along with management options to reduce outbreaks and transmission risk.

HPV & Cervical Dysplasia — human papillomavirus is the most common STI in the United States. We screen for HPV as part of your Pap smear and cervical cancer screening and provide follow-up care for abnormal results including colposcopy.

Trichomoniasis — a common parasitic infection that is easily treated once diagnosed.

Bacterial Vaginosis & Vaginal Infections — while not always sexually transmitted, BV and recurrent vaginal infections are evaluated and treated as part of our sexual health services.

Hepatitis B & C — we screen for hepatitis B and C when clinically indicated, particularly for patients at higher risk or during prenatal care.

STD Testing During Pregnancy

STD screening is a critical component of prenatal care. Many infections that are manageable in non-pregnant women can pose serious risks to a developing baby if left undetected. At Glendale OBGYN, we screen all pregnant patients for STIs at their first prenatal visit and again later in pregnancy when indicated — including testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B, and Group B Strep. Early detection protects both you and your baby.

Treatment

A positive STD result is not the end of the conversation — it is the beginning of getting better. At Glendale OBGYN, we provide prompt, effective treatment for sexually transmitted infections including antibiotic therapy for bacterial infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis, as well as antiviral management for herpes and HPV-related conditions. Our providers take the time to explain your diagnosis clearly, answer every question you have, and make sure you leave our office with a complete treatment plan and the confidence to move forward.

Who Should Get Tested

You should consider STD testing if you are sexually active and have not been tested recently, you have a new sexual partner, you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you have symptoms such as unusual discharge, burning with urination, pelvic pain, sores, or rashes, your partner has been diagnosed with an STI, or you simply want peace of mind. There is no wrong reason to get tested. At Glendale OBGYN, we welcome every patient with the same respect and discretion regardless of your situation or history.
